The irony of situation is that the only country whose recognition is needed for viability of Palestinian state is Israel. Recognition or lack of it by anybody else is irrelevant. And recognition by Israel is achievable only via direct negotiations. Everything else is just political theater.
Yes, Israel will suffer if enough UN members will vote “yes” to Palestinian bid. But Palestinian will not get any good, if their state were the real goal. So the only true goal of this move is to harm Israel, the hell with Palestine prospects that will only deteriorate.

In this civil year 2011 this isn’t even true anymore. The darker-skinned Jews of Islamic land extraction are now the majority of Israeli Jews.
But facts shouldn’t be thrown into the works of a Marxist narrative. Never.
