Mental illness and climate change — 18 Comments

  1. I guess we’re led to believe they don’t just call them “tropical depressions” because of the low pressure.

However, it’s the other way around–increased mental illness is causing a proliferation of tales of how “climate change” leads to all the world’s ills.

In other news, I can’t believe at how many leaves and branches were blown down in Boston by the once-in-a-lifetime man-caused hurricane, er tropical storm.

  2. Trofim lysenko and Stalin would be very happy….

“The threat of environmental crisis will be the ‘international disaster key’ that will unlock the New World Order.” — Mikhail Gorbachev, quoted in “A Special Report: The Wildlands Project Unleashes Its War On Mankind”, by Marilyn Brannan, Associate Editor, Monetary & Economic Review, 1996, p. 5

“In October 1917, we parted with the old world, rejecting it once and for all. We are moving toward a new world, a world of Communism. We shall never turn off that road.” — Mikhail Gorbachev

“Gentlemen, comrades, do not be concerned about all you hear about Glasnost and Perestroika and democracy in the coming years. They are primarily for outward consumption. There will be no significant internal changes in the Soviet Union, other than for cosmetic purposes. Our purpose is to disarm the Americans and let them fall asleep.” — Mikhail Gorbachev

lets see… disarmed, manufacturing gutted, children cant operate or read, no ablity to self organize against opposition, open borders for decades to supply stuff… and a popuylation that recognizes we are the richest country in the history of the universe and man, but feel no reason to protect such a largess…

to NOT see a repeat of WW a requirement of marx, is to not see whats coming, and recognize that a very wealthy weak something that cant defend itself and whose brain is temporarily on loan while obama occupies its place… is NOT in a good position to be denuding itself of military capacity and safety for the sake of tricking the electorate to dive deeper in the shiza…

  3. oh… and how do i know?

those who forget history are doomed to repeat it!

we have a very very refined systemof forgetting history and attacking those that remind us… as running headlong to your doom seems to be quite fun..

    to paraphrase a song

we may be going to hell in a basket baby
but at least we are enjoying the ride…

  4. I dunno.
Various minor catastrophes I’ve had to deal with have introduced me to some nice, helpful folks, gotten me closer to neighbors. We’ve never needed the Red Cross, but we meet people we didn’t know before, vying to shovel out the elderlys’ driveways.
Tocqueville said that one characteristic of American society was the ability of people to organize themselves efficiently and cheerfully to fix a problem without regard to class and money and other interests. After which, they go back to their class, their money (if any) and their other interests.
Seen it a dozen times. For example, we were active in the HS athletic boosters and didn’t socialize with anyone we met there. Who had time?

  5. That’s a lot of variables that they’re saying “could” be “linked” to mental illness – a severe weather event, that isn’t natural but, in fact, “related” to climate change, that leads to loss of social cohesion. Has this actually ever actually happened?

The only U.S. weather events I recall leading to lack of social cohesion (and only in spots) were hurricanes Katrina and Andrew, where there was looting. And have either of these been “related” to global warming?

  6. “Climate change is leading to increased mental illness, says the Climate Institute:”

    Well……… ???

Perhaps, the Climate Institute is confusing cause and effect!!

  7. If as many as one in five people reported ”emotional injury, stress and despair” in the wake provocations by the climate, than the four in five people emotionally and financially injured, stressed, and despairing of the provocations of our government’s malevolence take precedence. Let’s get our priorities straight.

  8. Obviously we need to live in a 300 sq ft house with solar panels that produce electricity once in a while and raise kids that value snail darters over people so we won’t have emotional injury, stress and despair anymore.

  9. isnt this the same side that decided conservatism was a mental desease by some very eroneous arguments by a frankfurt school idiot? and isnt this the side where normans went and invented the whole “making it real” violence thing? isnt this the side that has nearly single handedly brought starvation to the table again? (socialism and starvation go hand in hand like white on rice)

  10. The proponents of ‘climate change’ become ever more absurd and desperate as it becomes ever more evident their pet theory can not possibly predict either short or long term fluctuations in climate. Its as if they believe climate and life on earth in general were in a steady state until the internal combustion engine came into use.

So it a matter of speaking they are correct; belief in man made climate change is a mental disease.

  11. Watch this evolve into a health scare issue similar to the bogus connection of childhood vaccines to autism. Scaring young mothers might be the next best tactic those people have. Of course Al Gore is trying to equate publicly expressed AGW “denial” to racist comments of the pre-enlightened 60’s era in the hopes that will suppress dissension.
There’s a lot of ideology riding on this…

  12. It’s actually true – Global Warming is leading to increased mental illness.

If you doubt this just take a look at any of Al Gore’s recent video interviews or speeches – both him and the little enclaves of people he talks to are cutting themselves off from unsettling facts and getting more and more desperate.

  13. “Climate Change” is refering to the rapidly evolving disconnect from reality in the liberal mind. The climate of the planet is amazingly stable by comparison.

  14. Of course the Climate Change institute is right about it causing madness, after all, Al Gore is Batsh1t crazy and so are his acolytes

  15. Climate Institute is right. Global Warming is an apokalyptic cult, and spreading of such eschatological heresies is always harmful to society’s mental health. The simple fact that this threat is just a figment of atheist imagination does not change a bit in this evaluation.

  16. “”The simple fact that this threat is just a figment of atheist imagination does not change a bit in this evaluation.””
    Sergey

Atheist are a big chunk but plenty of religious folk have been sucked in too. What they seem to have in common is a rather masochistic view of themselves and mankind in general as an unnatural outsider in the natural world. Probably arrived at by the narrative being relentlessly pushed that all success by individual lives or even the species as a whole is more properly viewed as the story of injustice done to the less successful

But what they don’t seem to grasp, is every lifeform that exist on the planet got here by inflicting this same injustice. if all life were held to the same ridiculous standards.

Life is competitive. To suggest competitiveness and the striving for success is unnatural is to grossly misunderstand the natural world.

I call this “Lion King” syndrome. In Disney movies the lions put their paws around the gazelles and they all sing the closing title tune together. They’re all just good buddies, really.

In reality, lions kill their prey – the old, young, weak, and the sick individuals – by either clamping on their throats, choking off their windpipes, or ripping out their victims’ underbellies so that their entrails come out.

Kinda hard to set that to a catchy closing tune.
