Is Rick Perry dumb?
The gist of the Politico article that asks that question seems to be that Perry’s certainly not dumb about politics and about campaigning. That may end up mattering.
Funny thing, that’s exactly what Obama wasn’t dumb about.
Otherwise, Perry’s positioned himself to be Obama’s antithesis. The perception is that Obama is smart (read: intellectual) and Perry is dumb (read: anti-intellectual). That just may be exactly what each of them would like you to think.
The latest hit piece from the Democrat media. The next article will cite ‘unnamed sources’ (ie John at the watercooler) claiming Perry bashes ‘Muslims as terrorists’ by calling Islamism a national threat.
Oh it is just campaign season starting up again and GOP candidates are always declared dumb by our home grown Soviets. I am surprised that you feel you have to feel that this has to be addressed case by case basis.

Of course Perry’s dumb, he’s a Republican, and all Republicans are dumb, right?!?! And when he’s not portrayed as dumb, he will be portrayed as greedy, bigoted, gun-crazy, or an icky Christian.
The MSM and Democrats like to keep it simple – why change your tactics when you can just keep applying them to each new candidate? Especially when it feeds into their own sense of superiority.
I’m still waiting for Duh Wun’s Law Review articles to be published. I’m still waiting to see his collected work regarding Constitutional law.

“They” may insist Obama is an intellectual all they want but it has become apparent to any who will see with more than hope that Obama participated in Columbia and Harvard by the intervention of affirmative action. That goes for his election to the presidency as well.
As for Perry, his smarts are less a concern than his ability to identify with the American ethos at a level higher than my political platitudes are better than yours. He needs to make ‘hope’ as large an inducement as Obama’s Hope and Change but he needs make it a Reaganesque Hope and Restore.

Did Obama get a sudden infusion of English grammar and vocabulary, and actual writing talent or did somebody–Bill Ayers I’m talkin’ about you–write these two supposed autobiographies.
And why, pray tell, didn’t this numbskull, semi-incoherent, and only somewhat literate letter not surface before the Election, so that we could judge for ourselves if Obama was indeed, Tolstoy reincarnated?

In all seriousness, I would give odds that Perry’s IQ is higher than Obama’s. I wish someone like Rush or Brietbart would put up a cash prize for anyone who can show that Obama’s test scores are higher than Perry’s.

I would rather hope Perry is merely dumb. Otherwise his handling of the commission set up to investigate, among other things, the Todd Willingham case makes him morally culpible.
There are two types of courage: physical and moral. Perry seems ok with the physical courage , but seems to lack all moral courage -or maybe he’s just a faux Christian.
In any case for the Democrats I recommend writing in someone, trying to primary Obama, or voting third party. For Republicans I recommend Huntsman, Paul, or a write in.
This is shaping up to be the most horrid election of the last 16 years in terms of candidates.
I still want to see BHO’s Occidental, Columbia, and Harvard transcripts.

A concise description and right on target. As it appears that BHO is growing a bit weary of the whole presidential thing; let’s hope he feels he’s made his mark in politics and wants to change professions and become a $200,000 a pop inspirational speaker on the international lecture circuit. Herewith, the electrical diagram for the C-130. The pilot would be expected to understand this well enough to analyze and troubleshoot faults in flight.
Can anyone imagine that Obama would have the patience and mental ability to understand this diagram? He could perhaps *memorize* it…he evidently showed some skill at playing back the things professors expected him to say..but *understand* it?. I doubt it.

As many have pointed out here, the “Da Pub is Plum Dumb” theme the Demos have pursued since at least the days of Adlai has a problem here. When dumb-as-an-Aggie is compared to the President-Genius, there are no documents to show that the President-Genius is actually brighter than dumb-as-an-Aggie.
Does that mean that President-Genius is actually Dumber-than-an-Aggie? Only a Teasipper knows for sure. 🙂

The jurors in the original trial could only go with the evidence they had. It wasn’t their fault the evidence was nothing of the kind and based on shoddy science. Given what they were shown I would have convicted myself. And then kicked myself later when it came out that just about everything they were told about evidence in that fire was bullshit.
In any case, not only has every single expert panel thats ever looked at this case came to the conclusion that there was no evidence whatsoever for an arson fire in that case, but the Texas Forensic Science Commission itself finally said the same thing, despite Perry’s attempts to tamper with it.

No, I don’t think so, Brad. What we have here is the leftist false fact generating machine establishing yet another narrative. Long has the left labored to instill itself in committees and commissions wherein it produces “longitudinal” studies consisting of the opinions of like minded suck-ups spewing pseudo-science. “Experts,” you claim, conclude there was no evidence for arson. Run the trail of the experts from the beginning to the end and see if you don’t find a progressive cause club putting their snotty nose where it don’t belong.

The point is that pretty much every big name in “fire science” over the past 30 years has looked at this case. And they’ve all come to the same conclusion. I merely linked to that particular post to show Curtis just some of the qualifications of the people who are criticizing the arson investigation in the Willingham case – they are THE experts in the field. There really is no comparison here. The panels I referred to earlier were staffed by other people equally as qualified. It’s really quite simple. There are no dissenting fire scientists (unlike say, Global Warming where at least SOME of the critics actually have real PHD’s even if in unrelated fields)- the Willingham case was conducted using bad forensics.
Regardless of Willingham’s guilt or innocence it should mean something when a governor interferes with a forensics investigation. Perry is a moral coward at best – and more likely a total fraud in terms of any alleged religous beliefs.
I instinctively wish to avoid Perry or Romney as a hold my nose choice at the ballot box. In the final analysis these 2, along with the fading Huntsman, represent the RINO establishment. My nose tells me this will be the season to turn it all upside down and put forth either a real fiscal conservative (Palin or Cain) or a real libertarian (Johnson or Paul).
Of greater importance is maintaining a GOP majority in the House, electing a GOP majority in the Senate, and consolidating and expanding the GOP presence in the statehouses and legislatures. We are in the final round. The very future of the nation is on the chopping block.

To put my 2 cents in here, although the name of Ron Paul keeps getting mentioned and his people are very good at packing polls and getting supporters into public events to loudly cheer him on, and although he does have good idea or two in the field of economics–his idea of dismantling the Federal Reserve is one such–overall, he strikes me as a crank, in appearance and tone a demented leprechaun, and particularly wrong when he starts to talk about foreign policy and national defense issues.
