Watch out for Georgians with knives
This kind of Georgian, and this sort of knife:
I don’t know which seems more dangerous, the leaping up and crashing down on the knees, or the throwing of the daggers. I do know, however, that I agree wholeheartedly with one of the commenters at YouTube: “Kinda makes your blood tingle.”
I’m thinking steel-toed boots during rehearsal.
I had the pleasure of seeing them at WolfTrap (in the VA suburbs of D.C.) many years ago. It was the one time I had absolutely no reservations or complaints about being dragged to see “Dance” by my ex.
They performed what I can only describe as a sword-fight dance; metal clashing on copper shields. Then the lights went down suddenly and you see the sparks. The immediate and involuntary gasp from the audience was appropriate – it was breathtaking.
I was going to say magnificent… but “breathtaking” — that works (even better)
They must go thru knee pads like dancers go thru toe shoes!
And what are they performing on? It looks hard as its shiny but might be more like gymnastic mats (which would make for fewer arthroscopy surgeries on all those knees).
Whatever it is, after a few performances with those knifes, I imagine it’s more like sponge!
Too bad you didn’t discover until after the Ides of March. Maybe next year…
I just happened to wake up last night and catch Chris Brown on SNL. Go to 2:20 and . . . wow!
I missed all of SNL (my purpose was scouting enemy territory) except for the Chris Brown performance. Maybe it was the music and strobing lights that woke me up or maybe it was something else, but the performance was very entertaining.
