Most admired man in USA/Gallup poll
And the winner is…President Obama! By a mile.
These polls are fairly useless, though, since they tend to measure name recognition, and the presidency is the first thing that pops into people’s heads. Nevertheless, I’m sure there are a lot of people who truly admire Obama. I, however, am not one of them.
If you want the actual stats, 22% of respondents named Obama. And 5% named Bush, who was number 2. Number 3 was Bill Clinton with 4% (are we detecting a pattern here?) with Hillary the leading woman (17%) and Sarah Palin second (12%).
One in 10 of respondents chose a relative. But the biggest numbers were tallied by those sensible (or cynical, or spacey) folks who refused to pick a “most admired” at all: 25% for the male category and 22% for the female.
Most admired man?
How about Chris Christie people !
Even with his positions that you don’t like – he’s quite the antidote to Obama.
I’d say the poll is skewed by liberals who reflexively make everything political. Which means Obama would probably also lead in a “who makes the best peanut butter and jelly sandwich” poll.
I’d say that the 22% who voted for Obama had better take extra care if they try to chew gum while walking: if they focus too hard on managing those two tasks simultaneously, chances are good that they’ll forget that they have to keep breathing — and for those folks, THREE tasks is just too many to handle.
What, not the Beatles? No one tell Adrian. /g
Yet more hero worship. There’s a sort of childlike (childish?) quality to even asking the question, because it implies that people are scalars (i.e., equally meritorious in all respects, and at all times) instead of tensors (of varying degrees of merit depending on the time and circumstances). Once upon a time, lots of people admired OJ Simpson, and before that, and for much greater reason, Benedict Arnold (Those naming schools after Obama, please note.)
A more apposite question is what deeds one most admires, which fixes time and circumstances, and makes no assumptions about future comportment.
Who the hell would admire that piece of human excrement? that 22 % probably don’t know who the vice president is.
Iowahawk has his Man & Woman of the Year post up.
Yeah, it’s about what you’d expect.
How can any self respecting liberal vote for a man or woman of the year since they know gender is merely a social construct.
take over trusted institutions and use them up until they are no longer trusted…
such is what wolfs in sheep’s clothing have to do when the sheepskin starts to go foul..
Nobel prize was something in the past
now that its taken over, its been abused to certify, and now no one even cares about it much except those that haven’t noticed the change…
same with most awards… etc
they would love to make or manufacture them
but they cant really, so they infiltrate then take over things to acquire the same cache
