This is why it’s called Palin Derangement Syndrome
Case in point: the big hoo-ha over Sarah’s supposed “hairdresser” coming to Haiti with her on her humanitarian trip. Only trouble is that said hairdresser, who had the nerve to fix a strand of Palin’s hair in front of the AP cameraperson, was none other than Palin’s daughter Bristol.
And then there’s the nefarious hand-washing. At the Huffington Post, Michael Shaw writes:
…[T]he multiple shots of Sarah sanitizing and washing her hands suggests the former Gov is primarily concerned, above all humanitarian else, about catching something.
Shaw thinks the AP is out to get Palin by showing these particular photos, and he’s correct. He also indicates that it’s the “Palin team’s behavior, attitude or reputation” that may have brought it on. If he really thinks that, he hasn’t been following this thing right from the very start; it began the day Palin was chosen as VP pick.
As for the handwashing—would Sarah finally prove her selfless bona fides by coming down with some disease as a result of her travels? I doubt it; it would probably be interpreted as merely another bid for attention.
“the nefarious hand-washing”
Good grief. Public health experts are endlessly reminding us to use hand sanitizer, public speakers do this all the time when they have to go around shaking lots of hands, and now we have a apparatchik at the HuffPo MiniTru telling us how bad it is.
Thats why I’m supposed to wash my hands before and after patient care, not only to protect myself, but to prevent the spread of disease. Sheesh! Silly Joint
Commission and CDC.
Actually, the HuffPo writer wasn’t condemning the hand-washing himself. If you read the whole article, he seems to be saying that the AP, by publishing a lot of photos of handwashing, was subtly trying to indicate she was afraid of disease.
If I were on a trip to the country plagued by cholera I would certainly do the same, as the only effective precaution against this particular disease. It is called “the disease of dirty hands” for a reason. I did it several times a day when I was in expedition in Turkmenia, but still caught up the disease – propably, I have had to do it more often.
Facts? Truth? Honesty? Pah! These mean nothing to “journalists” nowadays. The only thing that matters is destroying their enemies, real or imagined.
The multiple shots of Sarah sanitizing and washing her hands suggests that the AP photographers wanted to get multiple shots of Sarah sanitizing and washing her hands.
Nothing more.
Palin Derangement Syndrom is unfortunately real. Take a look at Sorkin’s and Maher’s completely unhinged reaction to Palin’s hunting. OMG, a hunter who actually enjoys hunting!!! Oh, the humanity!!! (*rolls eyes*).
Ps. Lemme know when either one of them are willing to take on someone – like Mike Iaconelli (Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixSfMzdZqik&feature=related) – who’s not a favorite topic-du-jour for the pseudointellectuals. Oh, neither have because Iaconelli’s not a Republican politician? Yeah, that’s my point.
I’m deranged in the opposite way.
We have a man who hasn’t run a hot dog stand as president and idiots acted like Sarah’s executive experience was nothing compared to his.
Perspective = deranged in my case because it’s exasperating to see people without perspective.
∅bama WANTS TO RAISE TAXES during a deep recession !!!!
I’d love to see Palin elected in 2012 just to watch the inevitable leftist meltdown that would follow.
Lady Macbeth Fetish…
I hope some of you saw “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” last night.
She and her family (not the toddlers) took Kate Gosselin and her 8 children on a camping trip. It was rainy and somewhat cool, and Kate Gosselin had a horrible time. She made her children leave early, but it was very clear that her children were having a fabulous time. Palin’s father, a former science teacher, was showing the kids all kinds of interesting things about nature.
More Americans should have these kinds of outdoor experiences. I went on a similar trip (a guided tour) and met a delightful family of four who sought out nature trips. The two teenagers had already been on several camping trips and loved them. One could see that this family was having a ball.
Back to Sarah–she and her family sat round the campfire and just soaked in the joy of the outdoors.
I would love to have been on her trip. The key is to dress for rain, take along some bug repellent, and move around a lot–like searching for firewood.
Anyway, Sarah Palin will always be a mystery to many in the MSM because the reporters have never been in the wilderness.
I wondered why they did this show, because Kate was less than enthusiastic. She came off as bitchy and whiny – a stark contrast with Sarah. Then the light dawned. Oh yeah, Kate’s the typical liberal who has lost touch with the outdoor, self actuated, optimistic America.
Yes, Kate Gosselin was the epitome of the typical liberal. I’m guessing most of middle America saw that and thought to themselves, why would anyone go out of their way to be a pain in the ass like Kate was? Then you think of people like Katy Couric, Joy Behar, Katrina Vanden Heuvel, etal, and you realize that Kate was doing what they would do. Namely, look on an outdoor experience like that as torture. (That’s why libs think of enhanced interrogation as torture.)
Doctors and nurses wash their hands frequently to avoid passing disease from patient to patient. It is in fact one of the single most effective measures for preventing patient-to-patient transmission.
I doubt Mrs. Palin was solely concerned with protecting herself from disease. There is the issue of passing it on to others.
These news services are beyond despicable.
Are they trying to suggest Sarah is a prima donna for washing her hands a lot. JEEZ, after watching her series on TLC…you know the one where she kills a caribou, beats a huge flapping fish to death with a mallet and cleans the slime off fish on a “slime line”…I guess it’s a perfectly logical assumption.
Liberal women gain street cred by being raped by third-world men. It’s a “Soul on Ice” kinda thing; striking back at the MAN by raping white women.

Um do liberals never go to the hospital? Hand washing precautions are to prevent spread of disease not just to the nurses and doctors but to the others they contact. Or do all nurses and doctors only care about themselves not getting sick eh ?
You have to take into account how unusual it is to a liberal that a daughter might do something selflessly for her mother. For them only the hired help can be expected to fuss over them. Children pay only the attention needed to stay in the will.
Wait – Palin washes her hands? Washes her hands?? You can’t see the problem? What’s wrong with you people? Have you no shred of decency? She’s a hand washer, for God’s sake!
Shudders.
I don’t care about the hoo-ha about her hair and hand washing. I care about Palin’s statement regarding a military airlift.
