Obama administration to Jews: pay no attention… — 18 Comments
If past is prologue, yes, unfortunately.
The rabbi’s reported reactions appear to indicate that the ‘reassurance’ will probably work, temporarily.
Liberal Jews are fully invested in secular liberalism and desperately wish to continue to believe in the Obama administration. So, their wishful thinking, excuse making and denial will continue until Obama’s actions make that support unsustainable.
Iran, Hezbollah and Hamas future actions (not far off) will ensure that eventually Obama will, through his reactions to their aggression, unequivocally declare himself.
Yes, it will work. Liberal American Jews want to be fooled about the intentions of any leftists. We saw it in 2008. It was significantly clear then what Obama’s feelings were thanks to friends like Wright, Kalidi and Stephanie Powers, yet they cheered Obama and gave the cold shoulder to McCain.
Now the majority of American Jews will have to find a way to justify or ignore a medal of freedom for Mary Robinson, a ridiculous Middle east policy, the Cairo speech, Malley, Freeman, snubbing Netanyahu, the first phone call to a world leader being to Abbas and doubtlessly a few blows I am forgetting. But not to worry, too much ego is tied up in being a liberal Democrat for them to not find a way of deluding themselves about the administration.
As usual Barry Rubin has a good review of the anointed ones Middle East disasters at the Rubin Report.
All very well, but come election, somebody will remind us that conservative Christians vote republican and…that will be that.
Sadly you could Hiroshimaize Tel Aviv and scads of liberal American Jews would only think, “Was it something we said?”
The Dope’s “new” stance on Israel would sell better if he got on Air Force One and landed in Israel, to be met by Netanyahu. I’m sure this was suggested and dismissed out of hand. Also, so long as the US participates in UN agencies that demonize Israel, without good cause for doing so, the Dope will be perceived as the phony he is.
What the secular Jews fail to understand is that the attacks on Israel that they dismiss as not of concern to them also unleash world wide antisemitism. Soon they will wake up to realize that perhaps they should have been a little more concerned. How different the world is today for us Jews than it was just a few short years ago.
Oh, by the way. The losses caused by the bursting of the subprime mortgage bubble will most likely (and soon) be blamed on those New York Jewish bankers and the Jews in the Dope’s administration.
The simple solution for the Obama administration is to put a huge amount of our money that they don’t yet have plans for into some intensive telepathy research.
Since their brilliant plans have suffered from communication issues in the past telepathy would provide a perfect medium for clarity. With the use of telepathy the nuisance of being misinterpreted by those of us not intelligent enough to devine their purpose, or being misquoted or maligned by the press or opponents would be eliminated when the government wanted to do something to us – uh, for us. We would just understand the beneficence they are showering us with.
Developed enough, it could be used with our allies and enemies alike. Our allies would just “know” the administration has nothing but good intentions towards them and their policies. Our enemies would feel the full force of the presidential wrath over the direction of their choices. Allies would adore us as a nation, enemies would shake more than a dog passing a peach pit.
It’s a win I tell you! No more teleprompter. President Obama would just have to stand at the podium, look into the camera, and we’d know…the world would know in just a glance exactly what he was thinking and there would be no more communication snafu’s.
Sorry…it’s Monday.
SteddieH,
The Chinese would hack the system.
There was a retired General on the radio the other day claiming the indicators are there that a major multinational attack is in the works against Israel, possibly this summer.
in response to jon baker: Big surprise!
(Scary as all heck but no surprise. Not to me….and hopefully not to Israel…)
As for the shills who still agree to sit and listen to Obama, are they the same bobble-heads who happily attended his charade of a Passover in the White House hosted by his (Obama’s) “Jewish cousin?” It’s one thing to “desperately wish to continue believing……” and quite another to volunteer to reveal one’s stupidity. (It’s long past the point that one might consider it naiveté).
It continues to confound me (only because I tend to think logically and rationally) that so many Jews blindly cling to Democratic loyalty out of tradition and “heritage” (i.e. parents, grandparents, etc. voted Democrat) when reality so consistently betrays them. (And I say that as a Jew — one who comes from a very large Jewish community that still stubbornly maintains a “joined at the hip” attitude toward the Dems, in spite of escalating antagonism from this Administration and the party toward israel and Jews, in general. At same time, I have numerous non-Jewish friends who clearly see both the irony and the growing threat to existence and wonder what gives.)
As for Rahm Emanuel, he’s pissing into the wind and his admission of facts doesn’t mean he still doesn’t stink.
Again: THERE IS NO LONGER A “JEWISH VOTE” IN AMERICA.
The “community leaders” are leading a community that is largely post-Jewish.
These people do not belong to a synagogue, have never visited Israel, don’t speak Hebrew, and DO NOT VOTE based on what is good for Israel or the Jews.
Their religion is liberal progressivism. They have reinterpreted Judaism as “social justice” – like the more liberal Protestant sects.
This leaves a small clutch of neo-cons and religious Jews who still practice/identify with covenantal Judaism and support Israel.
EVERY time you see one of these articles, you can skip it. It’s describing a voting bloc that no longer exists.
I’m a big believer in Jews with guns. Makes ‘Never Again’ a little more realistic.
Israel must now go its own way, without any consult with the US. Our present Administration is an enemy of the State of Israel. If American Jews cannot see this, then out the window goes the generalized stereotype of the intelligence and love of learning of the Jewish people.
I also agree with Steve G: American Jews will be blamed for Wall Street losses and any further serious downturns in the banking world. That’s just the way Obama rolls, learning well from Reverrunatthemouth’s antisemitic diatribes passing themselves off as ‘sermons’.
Addendum: For the record, I say that first paragraph above as a now lapsed Catholic.
Ben-David, I agee that liberalism is generally a religion, and many Jews have adopted it, perceiving it to be some descendant of their own faith. It isn’t, but if you squint real hard you can make it look that way.
RickZ the phrase “never again” had been not only a Jewish, but a European mantra. Over the years it has morphed from never again will we let a people be exterminated to never again will we elect right-wingers who we can sorta kinda maybe think are like fascists. No matter what the other parties and politicians do, they will make sure that they never make that mistake again.
A lot of them have died already for that morphing (see USSR), and many more will. I despair of the Jews ever seeing clearly and saving themselves from a second Shoah under a different name.
Jennifer Rubin at Contentions this morning argues:
“But to be clear: either Israel will take military action or Iran will become a nuclear power. It is not simply that Obama has ceded control to and been outmatched by the mullahs. It is that he has made clear that the U.S. will not use military force if needed to guarantee the security of an ally and to prevent a nuclear-arms race in the Middle East. By renouncing the use of force, he has declared the U.S. out of the superpower business. By refusing to confront a threat to us and our allies, Obama will cripple U.S. credibility (the unacceptable is being accepted) for the foreseeable future and leave our allies to the whims of despotic bullies.”
And, that’s why he is the Dope.
I’m already seeing those kinds of comments on financial blogs……

Oops, somehow the quote got dropped, must learn to work with xhtml…..
Anyway, I am seeing those kinds of comments on financial blogs.
Jennifer is dangerous, she just gave a beating to her basket ball player husband!
