Robert Byrd is third in line in the presidential succession?
And Timothy Geitner is fifth?

Two sobering thoughts — 12 Comments
The whole lot in line are sobering thoughts:
1 Biden. Nuf Ced
2 Pelosi. Remember “no money changed hands”
3 Byrd. Perhaps then his prior hobby would be relevent
4 Clinton. And with her along comes Bill
5 Geitner. TurboTax for everyone!
As someone we both read is fond of writing, “the country’s in the very best of hands.”
Yeah, there’s not much I could say here without earning a visit from the Secret Service.
Rhetorical question: How far down do we have to drill before we get to somebody who
a) is not an idiot or senile
b) is not a Marxist or Alinskyite
c) is not a crook?
I am 148,560,263rd in line. So cheer up! When it gets to me, I promise to clean things up once and for all.
Thank God the Secret Service is as good as it is!
It’s all I can do to keep from citing “The Law of the Revolver.”
There isn’t anything in that line of succession that looks good to me…but I’m biased. 😡
Neo, get out your dictionary. There is a vast, vasty difference between sobering and appalling.
I take it all back about Bob and Tim. Maybe they could serve together. Co-presidents, like Bill and Hill. When they took the oath of office they’d look like a New Year’s Eve coaster.
If you weren’t already peeing your pants at the idea of Biden at number two, I don’t see how Byrd or Geitner are going to change much.
I think Obama picked Biden solely to reduce the chances of an assassination attempt substantially.
What would be worse about 2-5, really? They would be less effective and would have less personal magnetism for the farther left. Well, Hillary would have her own die-hards, I suppose, but the others would be less effective. And visible.
IgotBupkis: that was my first thought too. What we have here is a classic case of assassination insurance.
Wait, let me think about that more carefully. It’s certain that Republicans would hate to see any of that rogue’s list ascend to the Presidency… but then Republicans don’t tend to be the assassinating sort, in my humble opinion. And I doubt any of America’s enemies would want to assassinate President Obama, not if they’re think shrewdly about it; he’s doing just fine for them as is.
I could see a horribly-disappointed Daily Kos type giving it a try, though. And let me add that terrorists are not known for acting in their own interests; nor are assassins in general known for their firm grip on reality.
In re the prospect of a President Pelosi — and I shuddered merely to type that — I take solace in remembering that, in 234 years, we have NEVER had anyone beyond Vice-President ascend to the Presidency. Never. Not once.
