“Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar of TLC’s “18 Kids and Counting” are expecting their 19th child, People reported.”
Well that should keep them on TV for another year or so.
Has anyone ever bothered to ask Jim Bob and Michelle if they know what causes babies?
Has anyone ever bothered to ask Jim Bob and Michelle if they know what causes babies?
Has anyone ever bothered to ask Jim Bob and Michelle how many times they’ve been asked that question?
Please be considerate and careful. Would you admonish Hispanic families for having so many kids ?
Are the Duggars supporting and training their children to be independent and an asset to the community ?
I have an uncle 3 months younger–but my father’s mother only had 8. You’d have thought she’d killed someone though from the way, people around town talked–an in-law in particular was ashamed of her for getting pregnant at 42. I just can’t wrap my mind around the thought of having 19–one of my uncles’ wives is a twin and they are the youngest of 12–and I even had a great great aunt who had 6 sets of twins and one single birth (the twins were fraternal)–okay the 6 sets of twins is almost as impossible to grasp as the 19.
guess that would be 6 sets of twins are
“Are the Duggars supporting and training their children to be independent and an asset to the community ?”
Believe it or not, they actually are.
The kids all pitch in when it comes to keeping the house running. They help with the chores, and the older ones watch the younger ones. The older girls know how to do haircuts and the older boys know how to help with construction and other “manly” chores. They even have learned how to do home improvement projects around the house! And they even do charity work. In fact, the oldest of the bunch already has a job at a car dealership, is married “como Dios manda”, and his wife is expecting a child.
So yep, if the older kid was raised all right, so will the other ones. Sure, they’re no Ivy Leaguers and they’re more of the Old Chevrolet, Sarah Palin crowd.
But at least, when the proverbial excrement hits the fan in this country, they will not starve.
Actually, I’ve only watched maybe a total of a half hour of all the Duggar programs. But from that very small sample, my impression is that they are quite remarkable people and good parents. I don’t share their religious beliefs, but I think that’s pretty irrelevant.

At least, they’re showing Jon and Kate, who are nobody’s role models, how it’s done.
Some friends from my hometown were from a family of ten children. A number of them were class Presidents or officers in 8th grade. One threw the last no-hitter for our high school baseball team, many years ago. The father worked two jobs, the mother was busy- and cheerful. The oldest three were college grads. What is of note is that of the ten children, only one had as many as three children. A number had only one child or none. The multiplication bug died out.
