The dropouts: Giuliani and Edwards
Edwards is out of the race, with Giuliani to follow.
There’s no dearth of analysts to explain why, so I’ll be brief in my own offering:
Giuliani never really wanted it all that much, and he didn’t know how to translate his 9/11 appeal into a more generalized appeal.
Edwards wanted it way too much, and he simply oozed with lack of appeal.
“Oozing charm from every pore, he oiled his way across the floor.”
Giuliani rose to a singluar moment of greatness, and the masses wouldn’t give him the benefit of the doubt about his ability to handle smaller things.
Edwards rose to prominence by selling out to the populist notion of fixing all the smaller things, and the masses doubted his ability to rise to a single moment of greatness if needed.
Edwards oozed, voters snoozed.
Now if we could just get rid of McCain…
And guarantee the Democratic victory? Please do.
