Free the al Durah tapes
I’ve written at some length about the France2 trial and the fact that the al Durah tapes have never been released (if interested, see my posts on the subject from October 24 to Oct 30, 2006). Here’s a petition the indefatigable Richard Landes has set up to persuade France2 that it’s time to let the public know what’s in those videos. Please sign if you agree.
The press wants to be able to get the government to release whatever information the press wants. However, even though the press considers itself the Fourth Estate, it doesn’t consider itself bound by the same things that bind governments. They are outside government control, in fact, and that is how they like to keep it. Meaning keep everyone else under control.
