Sophia’s available: now get in line, all you guys of a certain age — 5 Comments

  1. Hi neo-neocon:

I haven’t written before but I’ve been a reader / fan of your blog for some time.

With regard to Sophia Loren, you may not know that she starred in a Canadian TV movie some time ago, based on a Canadian novel called Lives of the Saints.

I haven’t seen this film, but I know it received good reviews; it seems like, in Canada at least, it is becoming a movie that they play each Xmas.

    That’s it, that’s all, I guess.

btw, I can’t say I’ve disagreed with a single thing you’ve written (although of course I haven’t read everything).

I must say my own worldview is in considerable sympathy with yours. Like you, I don’t reveal my true identity on line because I’m `surrounded by liberals (ie. socialists) on all sides.’

Perhaps again like you, I don’t find liberalism / socialism inherently bad. It’s just that it has developed certain… pathologies and blind-spots, like the conservativism of old (or of Pat Buchanan), and so I could not in good conscience identify myself as being a person on the left.

    thanks
    Roundhead

  2. I saw Marcello in a Paris Cafe surrounded by seven other women, who all looked like the women in 8 1/2. (Unfortunately by then the haggard-looking Marcello looked like he’d had too many nights of La Dolce Vita.) Something tells me Catherine wasn’t the only one.

  3. I’m a man of that certain age.

    I’ve always admired Sophia Loren.
I especially liked the movie “Houseboat” in which she starred with Cary Grant.

Unfortunately, my wife of 50 years is still quite fit and I still enjoy her company very much.

So, sorry Sophia, I’m not available.

  4. And in classic Marriage, Italian Style style, Marcello’s wife adored his daughter by Deneuve and doted on her.
