And now for some real news
I am extremely heartened by the recently-announced compromise on Iraq’s constitution.
But rather than comment further myself, I’ll leave that honor to one of the many valiant citizens of Iraq, a man who was among the first to give us a window on that troubled and long-suffering country and its courageous people–Mohammed, of Iraq the Model:
At this moment, the National Assembly is holding a ceremony celebrating the new breakthrough agreement on the constitution which President Talbani described as the “Day of National Accord”.
What happened today is a historic event that will isolate the enemies of Iraq and freedom and will pave the way for a clear future for Iraq after important Sunni groups decided to actively join the political process in Iraq.
There’s a visible feeling of relief on the streets and I think the constitution is on the way to be ratified”¦the process has come out of the emergency room and recovery will follow.
Last year I had the honor of personally meeting two of the brother from Iraq the Model. I am so very excited for their future!!

Perhaps if the jihadis start beheading orphans and crippled children the rest of the arab world will finally join in and help drive the great satan America out. It might not hurt the cause either if they would start executing some nursing home residents and hospital patients, after all, they are the ones most eager for Western assistance. Such is the insane reasoning of islamic terrorists.
In a time not so long ago, about 40 years from this one, we abandoned a nation and her people. Less than 15 years past, we again abandoned a people struggling for but a breath of freedom.
The atrocities the innocent endured; the hundreds of thousands slaughtered; each should have been a history also written, and a lasting reminder to fight for the fruit of freedom both near and far, for where freedom is not, the sanctuary of suffering shall grow.
Freedom for Iraq is not a far away dream.
That took about a decade less time than ours did.
This war is as much a civil war between the Islamofascists and those in Islam who want to join the modern world as it is an attack on the West. One of the greatest victories we can have is to have the good guys win in Iraq. One of the worst things that could happen to us is to have the bad guys win in Iraq.
This is good news indeed. Now for a nice, big turnout in the elections.
Let’s pray this election is no bloodier than the last.
What a sight! Purple fingers and determination.
