Breathing a sigh of relief — 4 Comments

  1. Nicely written, and very helpful to me, anyway, in my thinking about where I am politically. Thanks for writing this long, long piece. Have a good weekend (9th Avenue Street Fair is on! Even if it’s raining)

  2. I can’t say enough about the VN piece Neo took the time to compose. Much thanks thrown your way, Neo.

Pancho’s point about the VA is spot on. It’s a shame, to say the least.

  3. Thanks again for your well thought out and researched efforts. It has great meaning to those of us who served in Vietnam to be able to read such well stated ideas.

I was thinking of Vietnam Vets today, as I spent the day among them at the V.A. hospital in Big Spring, Texas attending to personal medical matters. As usually happens when I go there, I am struck by the thought that if there was a real lie perpetrated by our government about Vietnam, it has to be the one concerning the care of the veterans of that war. Changes in the V.A. in the last decade now mean that many honorably discharged vets no longer qualify for benefits promised them for their service, while the legislators who enact these changes continue to award themselves ever increasing pay and lavish benefits for life. It’s a travesty and not a good advertisement for those volunteers of today seeking a career in the military.

  4. You’ve done a fair piece of work here with the Viet Nam stuff. The fact that your site meter is approaching 30,000 says alot. Like most things in life, people don’t come around unless there is something good being offered. Keep up the good work and thanks for the opportunity of self expression, and venting.
