Two initial points made by historian Raymond Ibrahim are that he sees historical continuities and chaos, respectively.

As of this writing, the WNBA itself has not released an official statement. But I’m sure if they do, they will completely gloss over the larger point these former NBA players were trying to make and will include a whole lot of yada yadaing about… “inclusivity and respect.”
