There’s no pleasing some people. She is conservative where it counts. She is a hawk on defense and wants to build up the Japanese military to counter China. She received congratulations from the Taiwan prime minister, from Georgia Meloni, the conservative Italian Prime Minister, and from President Trump. Japan has a close relatioonship with the Phillipines providing them economic and military aid to counter China. On the other hand, the fat guy North Korean dictator is not pleased at all with her victory.

Angela Merkel, for example, was the leader of Germany’s big “conservative” party.

LDP has dominated Japanese politics since 1955 so there’s not a ton of change going on here, they have always been the party of “big government”. As for the new Prime Minister personally, her conservatism includes WWII revisionism, which is not unusual among Japanese conservatives.
