The word was not anathema then, a perfectly acceptable insult for non-macho males. Of course he had no homosexual inclinations and was just shy around girls. He’s long been happily married.

It wouldn’t surprise me to learn the attacker was a Pakistani migrant which would explain why he was never punished for the beating. Meanwhile, the actual victim gets thrown in jail for texting a slanderous word in anger (that technically doesn’t apply to her attacker) to the other “victim”, her “friend” who was triggered by the word in the text message.
