“Why” was addressed elsewhere: it’s only common sense to be prepared to defend yourself in Europe, the UK, and large American cities.

Trump, and Republicans, should be repeating No One Is Above The Law.
Any govt. employee who has committed a crime should subject to being fired.

Farage (not garage? -no.) is regretful… I think Trump is pretty non-regretful about his actions. The lack of regret seems to imply a secret pleasure, like enjoying revenge. I think it’s enjoying winning, which is a different but similar pleasure.

When I was working in Argentina during the military regime, a friend took me to her friend’s household, where I saw a portrait of Hitler on a living room wall. I was told that “crazy grandpa” had installed the picture. I did not inquire about grandpa’s ethnicity—native Argentine or Nazi refugee—so I never found out.

Having heard enough stories of anti-Semitism from Argentines of the Jewish faith, I concluded that “crazy grandpa” was probably born and bred in Argentina. I suspect the military was more anti-Semitic than the average Argentine—look at what they did to Jacobo Timerman. An Argentine of the Jewish faith whom I worked with in the US told me of a 1960s high school graduation celebratory cruise on the River Plate where he met the daughter of a general. The general’s daughter proceeded to spit out some vile anti-Semitic screed. Or the journalist who told me of the Israeli plot to take over Patagonia—most likely a talking point the military had directed the media to propagate.

But while the military’s anti-Semitism may have been greater than that of society at large, the military was far from the only bastion of anti-Semitism in Argentina. Another Argentine of the Jewish faith told me of attending a professional conference in the US. He was surprised to find out that in the US, his being Jewish was no big deal—whereas it was in Argentina.

Nor was anti-Semitism in South America confined to Argentina. I also encountered a Hitler portrait in a household in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. The anti-Semite was not crazy grandpa, but the middle-aged patriarch. Again, I don’t remember if the family was German origin or Spanish Bolivian. The son was going off to university in Germany. There were a fair amount of German origin people in the area, including the secretary of the company I worked for. But the area was also philo-Germanic. (I made no comment about the Hitler portrait. I was a guest in their home…)

At a Sunday dinner in Peru, I met a retired professor, the uncle of my friend, who claimed that he had met Che Guevara when Che was taking his motorcycle trip. The retired professor spontaneously uttered some anti-Semitic invective.

$1000.00 to repaint some skid marks is clearly “cruel and unusual punishment”. These local government officials, in seeking “to send a message” are in violation of the defendant’s constitutional right from cruel and unusual punishment.

Evidence of “prejudice”… Well then, hoist them upon their petards and construct the gibbets!
