@Anne, LXE:Does anyone here remember that South Africa has the nuclear bomb? Do you remember how they came about to have it?

They remain the only country ever to have nuclear weapons and give them up (as opposed to repatriating nuclear weapons belonging to and under control of a foreign power, as the former Soviet republics did).

> What a combination! And that was built by those Afrikaners (and Brits in the Kwa-Zulu Natal area), and is being dismantled by the current rulers.

One of the good reasons not to demonize Bill Gates is that he, like Elon Mask, is single-handedly focused on one of the existential problems of the humanity.
For Musk, it's the risk of a planetary extinction event.

What we heard in the Clinton and Obama years was that we needed to take the early signs of genocide seriously and take action before it became something that would universally be considered genocide. We heard it during the Obama years in large part because of what happened in the Clinton years (Rwanda). Whether we really can "take action" every time oppression begins anywhere in the world is another matter, but at least we can open our eyes and point things out.

Good for Trump. Something like this needed to be done. Worrier that I am though, I can't help wondering how he'd react if some foreign leader "ambushed" him like this. He can't count on always being in control of the situation.
