Before David Clayton comes back to shit on this blog with yet more of their nonsense demonizing us and Trump, let’s be appraised of what the Labour Government he apparently approves of far more as a “European Conservative”:

https://www.gbnews.com/science/science-news-latest-britain-approve-sun-dimming-experiments-climate-change

I am not sure whether to laugh or cry. As a habitual gamer, there are some parallels. But this is literally the backstory for the ancient RPG/Strategy game Transarctica (wheee some dogooder environmental scientist tries to dim the sun to prevent global warming but does it too well, resulting in a global ice age). It is also the plot of the evil vampire clan in Skyrim using demonic magic and secret artifacts. But at least those two had logical reasons to want to dim the sun (well, half logical anyway).

But apparently Mr. Starmer and co think that Britain has too many sunny days.

Like, if I am incredibly generous this kind of knowledge and if would work Might be very useful in a sort of desperate “if facing global heat death break glass” sort of thing. But it is reaaallly not useful now. And a damn reckless and wasteful use of resources.

The incoherence of the recent SCOTUS decision is under review by the NatCon Squad withlawyer Will Chamberlain batting leadoff, 1-14m

https://youtu.be/kQqSPJ-ynp0?si=syqWf49Ph3R1HJKv

Chamberlain thinks the High Court will remove this injunction soon, like this week. The US Solicitor General has issued a reply withering their stance, he says.

The direction of the High Court leads to a real crisis of legitimacy among the Right. I think their shared consensus on Chief Justice Roberts is that he is exactly the wrong man for this moment, and thus unaware of how much damage to the Court's legitimacy he's doing.

This is bad.

minor: Last night I was having problems accessing the x.com links you all were posting? Did others have that issue, too? Tonight the problem seems to have been "fixed".

On the 4 year old pianist: basically my earliest memory is being 4 years old, sitting on the steps of our house, and learning to tie my shoe laces, or practicing as I had only recently learned this new skill. There was no push to learn a musical instrument until age 9, and no real buried musical talent to bring forth in any case.

But is that piano a standard sized one or one specifically built for smaller players with smaller hands, foot reach, etc.??

Mike Plaiss on April 23, 2025 at 10:06 am
while reading your referenced item on Russ Vought, I had the thought that instead of running for a 3rd term, Trump should run for the House, then be elected Speaker, and run things there in conjunction with (presumably ) Vance as POTUS 48. So much of what needs doing really requires Congress to get moving/ correcting/ reforming/ repealing....
Explicit and well written laws will overcome and withstand any subsequent judicial challenges.

That 4 year-old pianist is a marvel, and rightfully garnered a First in whatever competition she appeared and played.
The best view of her playing is the piano's mirror image of her hands-- on the piano itself. Wow!
Let's give politics a rest in the face of this wee accomplished lass.

much like the prevent program in the uk, that failed as stockport, along with many other examples,

it's not merely a waste of time and money, but a danger to citizens, in the mix up world view of cve, the average citizen concerned about islamism, is the problem, and those that are supposed to be the subjects, well don't worry about that,

this runs parallel to the notion that we should admit many persons from these same countries like the azeri imam, who told border patrol 'you will hear from me soon'

Salamn Rushdie touched upon this flashpoint in a novel he wrote right after September 11th, Shalimar the Clown, of course this being Rushdie its as much about melodrama as the particulars of the conflict, this was true in Midnights Children, his debut,

the long and the short of it, is the protagonist is a pakistan trained kashmiri rebel, who goes on a vendetta against a certain character
