I don’t know. But a lot of trash would be an exothermic reaction . The issue would be the pollution. In it’s simplest form it would have to be like an external combustion steam boiler.
If you could pulverizer the trash into small enough pieces, maybe an internal combustion generator.

I realize some of the artificial materials may create unsafe emissions, but I wonder if some of that could be abated with catalyst.
