I took your advice and pulled the trigger on Windows 11. I usually wait until the last moment, since in the past with MS, new updates mean new, improved spyware.

I like David Shapiro for AI videos. He cares about safety, so he was a fan of Claude. I’ll have to catch up with what he says about DeepSeek.

Just asked ChatGPT – Compare ChatGPT to Claude. Long answer – to long for now. Snippets:

Living below the US Poverty guidelines requires me to manage money carefully, so no spending on any AI. I pay $84 a year for X, and Grok comes with that subscription__X is basically a political statement subscription for me. 🙂 Heck, I don’t even have home insurance on my property and humble hut because they want me to insure it for a ridiculous price!?

When I started Chat’ting, I used ChatGPT 3.5, which was free. I switched to ChatGPT 4 (paid) for DALL-E graphic capability. Then to 4.o at the same price.

I use Grok (I like best), Bing, ChatGPT (whatever free version), Gemini, Perplexity, Claude (a new one for me), and am in the process of testing DeepSeek. They are all free – which works great for me.

There is also OpenAI’s o1 which is the Pro version for $200/month and more powerful. I’ve not tried it.

Early tests of DeepSeek are not bad on Fedora using something called “ollama for Mac” – in a terminal. On browsers in Windows I keep getting error messages. I may give Porteus linux a shot next…to see if I can get some GUI version of it or or a web link…
