mkent:

Thanks. I have been aware of it, though. A week or two ago I corresponded with my host and they have no real suggestions. They say it's bot attacks overwhelming the site now and then, and it passes when the attacks pass. I have my doubts, though, because there have always been such attacks off and on and it never was as disruptive as lately. If it continues to be a problem I may try changing hosts, but I don't know whether that would even help and it's a pain.

Rufus T. Firefly on January 6, 2025 at 8:45 pm said:
Couple the above with the fact that CO2 makes up 0.042% of the Earth’s atmosphere (less than 1/2 of 1%) and human activity only impacts 3% – 4% of that 0.042%.

I finally found the chart I was looking for that so dramatically shows what you have said in words. See the double blue square image here https://wryheat.wordpress.com/2021/11/26/why-reducing-carbon-dioxide-emissions-from-burning-fossil-fuel-will-have-no-effect-on-climate/

And I just now noticed that the wryheat source references this source in turn: https://rclutz.com/2021/11/23/2021-update-climate-reductionism/

This quote is from this Instapundit post: https://instapundit.com/694449/#disqus_thread
<blockquote>"Every article on the effects of climate change should also note that China today emits more carbon than the United States, Europe and India - combined. China's carbon emissions are so huge the country has now produced more carbon in the last few decades than Europe has since the start of the Indistrial Revolution. And China last year built more coal plants than in any prior year. All efforts outside China to slow climate change is (sic) just virtue signaling."</blockquote>

I highly recommend this Jordan Peterson interview of Pierre Poilievre:
https://youtu.be/Dck8eZCpglc?si=_GO0drhGSMoqsdjf

Some great information in it. The economy in Canada is a shambles. And, as Poilievre and Peterson point out, they are one of the most resource rich nations on Earth. I never even considered the potential of becoming a data center powerhouse due to the natural advantage of the climate.

If this guy gets in and does half of what he wants to do and Trump and the Doge boys do half of what they want to do and Milei in Argentina, Bukele in El Salvador...

The Americas can have a huge, economic boom in the next decade!

Sabine Hossenfelder on something I linked to a couple of weeks ago. Not much new here, but any excuse to link to Sabine Hossenfelder is good enough.

The big take away is that serious scientists are still examining the notion that the universe is expanding at an accelerating rate. That’s a good thing even if they ultimately turn out to be wrong.
