I can’t speak to Jamison’s “Wade in the Water.” But Eva Cassidy’s version I find transformative. It was based on the African-American gospel song:

This is KJV John 5 4-9:

7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.

Thanks – still can’t find a video. I know there must be one in the dance collection at the Lincoln Center library, but there doesn’t seem to be one in the public domain. It’s crazy; she did that dance for many years and it wasn’t THAT long ago. Of course, videos can’t capture the effect it had on stage in person …
