Well put. And, I think, it stems from his confidence that, as I mentioned earlier, he and Marcus (and by extension the WaPo entirely) lie.
“Here’s the template, guys. Couldn’t be clearer. . Marcus and I lied to you. Open ahd shut–insert subject under discussion here–and you fools are gong to believe us every single time anyway.”

Liars only get as far as the deceived will let them. But if an individual cannot see he is deceived because he WANTS the lie to be true, he will never see he is being deceived. Nor care.

By extension, then, this is the fault of the audience.

Jonathan Capehart is the first human being (I give the benefit of the doubt here) of whom I can truly and accurately state possesses a punchable face. Others have been so described, of course, but his is the first and only face I can truly say deserves such an appellation. To describe him merely as “smug” would be a massive understatement, akin to describing the Pacific Ocean as a bit damp.

Are you sure “mild-mannered reporter” Hugh Hewitt didn’t run off so he could duck into a phone booth, take off his glasses, put on a blue suit and save the universe?

Capehart gave a glimpse into what life and work at the Post must be like. There’s no real argument about anything. Unorthodox thinking is assumed to be gauche, vulgar, and demeaning and is simply brushed aside.

Capehart’s reaction – or should I say LACK of reaction – when Hugh storms off (yes, it was an unfair election ad) was gobsmacking.
