It would be interesting to see if there is any overlap in the purchased pols, especially among the lower apparatchiks. What happens if Iraq and China have a difference on policy preferences? (I don’t follow that closely enough to know how the two countries interact with each other).

Tyrus on “Gutfeld!” said that all the talk about “joy” at the Democrats’ convention was because of the transition. Biden was gone and the Dems were excited that something new was going to happen. They were like kids let out for recess. But now the kids realize that nothing is going to change. They are just going through the motions until school lets out for the summer. Sure, Hillary doesn’t want Kamala to be the first woman president, and she doesn’t want to be the only candidate Trump beat, but there’s a general lassitude, battle fatigue, and a desire to “turn the page” on this election cycle.

This is almost certainly completely irrelevant. That said :
In the Irish epic the Tain, the boy-hero Cuchulainn singlehandedly holds off an army which is invading Ulster from Connacht.
The reason for the war is that Queen Maeve of Connacht wants to steal a prize bull.
…And the reason she wants the bull is because her husband has one, and she doesn’t.
I’m not arguing that there might be a parallel situation here, but I’m not saying that there isn’t either.

I’m not going to give either Bill or Hillary any character points but they are from the generation of Democrats that was more pro-Israel, if only to get the support of Jews who then cared more about Israel than hard left agendas even if liberal. The generation of Scoop Jackson, Pat Moynihan, Joe Lieberman and Zell Miller that is now long, long gone.
