The Rolling Stone has always been leftist, but I used to read issues at the laundromat and enjoyed much of the writing, until it went even harder left (around 2000 IIRC), to the point where Matt Taibbi jumped ship.

I was on my way to that laundromat when the planes hit the towers. That was the only time I know of that the clerk turned on the tv set (one reason I went there is that she always kept it off; I got a lot of reading done).

A switch to a DEI system is not perceived to threaten the elites in any way, whereas a true merit system applied everywhere certainly would.
