Am a novice at this digitizing a Media Library, so my method is for those with low budgets and no experience either. 🙂 Costs so far are $189.63 including tax and free shipping – most of that cost was from a Seagate FireCuda ST4000DX005 4TB 7200 RPM 256MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5 Internal HDD Bare Drive purchased last night. Have also purchased an external Blu-ray burner and EaseFab LosslessCopy software. I already had some of the devices & hardware, which cut down on my expense so far. Still, probably less than $250 for a basic setup.

Commenter huxley gave me a tip on the free HandBrake reducing software, and it has been amazing. A 7++ GB MP4 movie’s digital footprint was reduced down to about 1.5 GBs or so (?). A 15++ GB series disc was reduced down to about 2.5 GBs – which comes in handy when trying to save money on the big TBs drives. The additional 15-20 mins to reduce the size of a MP4 is worth the time.

Speaking of time – have 50 of those double/triple movie series, 47 Blu-ray movies, 148 DVD movies, and 34 TV series (like Game of Thrones, Hell on Wheels, Sopranos, etc) that I plan on digitizing – plus whatever new stuff I buy. Well, I rarely buy new movies or TV series, with Yellowstone being one of the exceptions. Time reduces the prices of DVDs & Blu-rays.
