The language issue always concerns me, because an ancestor of mine was taken in a brutal attack that killed his mother, one of his sisters, and his brother’s fiance.

He was held long enough to have 6 kids with a Native woman, who were released – with that woman and his children – when a negotiated treaty ended those Indian wars.

I keep hearing how children in those circumstances are “adopted” by the tribes.

It’s not adoption, it’s forceable taking – kidnapping hostages – and, BTW, the treatment wasn’t all that charitable. Many of them were held in virtual slavery conditions, and many of the female hostages were raped.

I post this story because we all know that if an attacker’s ethnicity / race is NOT mentioned, then it is a problem for the leftist narrative.
It’s very similar to this press rule (not yet in the AP Guidelines, but rigorously observed anyway): If an alleged miscreant is a Republican be sure and mention that affiliation; if a Democrat, say nothing.
Most of you have noticed, I’m sure, that the rule extends even to elected officials.
