We can grumble all we want about the corrupt guy. Yet, in 1974 he was candidly talking about his expecting to become POTUS, and, dammit, he did.

This is what caught my eye in the article:

He defines politics as power. “And, whether you like it or not, young lady,” he says, leaning over his desk to shake a finger at me, “us cruddy politicians can take away that First Amendrnent of yours if we want to.”

Hell, for 50 years Biden has believed (perhaps correctly) that he is part of a government cabal that can take away our liberty.

Anybody in those receiving lines is willing to let Crazy Uncle Joe do just about anything to their kid, with the cameras rolling. That’s why they’re there; it’s not in their system of beliefs to think that anything bad could happen under those circumstances. “He’s the President!”

“He has immense self-confidence.”

His own ridiculous evaluations of his supreme intelligence as well as his frequent exaggerations and outright lies have created an unflattering portrait of mediocrity shot through with petty malice.

Nobody, I’d imagine, Left or Right, likes this behavior.

P.S. The mythology surrounding the FBI (I can still remember listening, after I came home from grade school in the mid 50s, to “The FBI in Peace and War” on the old radio we kept in the kitchen and, in later years, when TV came in there was the uncorruptable Eliot Ness), Secret Service, and so many other government agencies has worn pretty thin, if not worn completely away.

As for the Secret Service–which these days seems more like a rolling frat party rather than a serious organization—according to reports there was the 2011 strippers and prostitution incident in El Salvador, ** the major 2012 Columbian hookers incident a year after that, another 2014 incident where an agent was found passed out in an Amsterdam hotel hallway and he and three other of his drinker buddy agents were sent home, in 2015 an agent was caught in a child predator sting, another reported prostitute problem in 2017.*

Most recently, there was the Secret Service’s supposed inability to find out who left his dime bag behind in the White House.

Seriously, are we supposed to believe this crap?

I guess they think we are all morons or, perhaps, they think their positions are unassailable, and they just don’t care.

Sadly, yes, and it can get even worse. One of my aunts had a friend whose husband went outside to take a walk, took off all his clothes, and was found wandering down a nearby road “without so much as a hairnet,” as my grandmother used to say. Other people with dementia expose themselves or masturbate in public. So if Joe starts dropping trou in public or doing a Toobin, his retirement dinner will be on the WH calendar in short order.
