I eat sushi wrong, but I knew that already. I have no shame about using a knife and fork.

I usually eat nigiri pieces -- a thumb-sized pat of rice covered with raw fish, which is demonstrated in the link. However, most places I go the chefs are more generous with portions, so picking the piece up with chop sticks, dipping it into the wasabi-soy-sauce, results in an uncomfortably large bite for me. Like a good American barbarian, I cut the piece in two and eat it like steak.

Besides, I only order four pieces of nigiri and I like my meal to last longer than four bites. I mostly get take-out, so I don't worry about Japanese protocol.

I also let the wasabi-soy soak into the rice. Heaven forfend!

Re: Sushi

As a San Franciscan I loved sushi. Still do, though after I moved to New Mexico I had my doubts about consuming raw fish 800 miles from the ocean.

I made inquiries and was told that raw fish for sushi is flash frozen at 20 degrees below zero before shipping which is supposed to kill any critters. So I have favorite sushi restaurants here in the desert and have had no trouble.

For those still squeamish about raw fish, there is unagi sushi -- freshwater eel -- which is poisonous unless cooked so it's always cooked and coated in a sort of soy-based bbq sauce. Quite tasty.

Regarding the Navy query, above, I'm not in any position to say one way or the other, but I would ASSUME that it's a Covid-19 vax issue. (Obviously, I could certainly be wrong about this.)

Barry Meislin (ABOVE) segues from my post, looking towards the future, thusly:
“ The past several years…in a nutshell…for those of us who wondered how we ever got here…
“The Big Swindle Of 2020–22”—
https://www.zerohedge.com/economics/big-swindle-2020-22
“The main question is HOW to get out of the current mess.

“Though to do that one has to first understand how it happened, decide who’s responsible and then draw the appropriate conclusions.

“The main problem, though, is that there are major players who are working overtime trying to totally obfuscate what’s happening and cover up how it happened....”

I believe there are three step ahead in the US. Larry Correia (?) in March opined that Americans distrust with every citadel of authority is crumbling.

This metastasising defines the most current and paramount trend. Look for expressions of cynicism to spread and totalise, perhaps next year.

If the Truth of the Evils the Ruling Class has unleashed upon us get out, then the next stage of reaction will set in: OUTRAGE.

AND RAGE AGAINST ALL AUTHORITY for their culpability.

If that over the horizon wave sets in, then, and only then comes Public Vengeance. A leader who then boldly names the guilty appears, and outlines a course of action to reverse these many Evils.

It’s gonna be a long, long two or three years waiting. So many Ruling Class citadels of power and influence are Dead Set on keeping the masses dumb and dimmer than mere denial could explain — so many trillions of rampage in tax payer monies to steal!

Are there any Navy vets among Neo's commenting crew? I just saw a news item about how the USN has fired four commanding officers and an advisor in less than a week for what the Navy terms "loss of confidence." The NY Post says, "While it is not uncommon for a military branch to relieve top commanders of their positions due to a 'loss of confidence,' departures typically are spread out over a prolonged period." All five fired officers presumably identify as men; three are white and two are officers of color.

I have no idea what's going on in the Navy, so I'd appreciate some enlightenment from commenters with experience in this branch of the military. There's been so much bad news lately from all kinds of directions that this news item seems like one more sign or trouble.

The Fed raises the fed funds rate by 75 basis points a couple hours ago. Another 75 basis point increase is likely, followed by 50 point increases.

I guess that is good news (A 100 point hike would have been better. The market response is up.) though the Fed is also saying that they don't expect to get inflation under control anytime soon. The market rally is probably a head fake, or selling opportunity.
