Snopes et al. can’t tell the difference, and it’s getting hard for me.

Re: your point @ 11:23: I think you misunderstand the point I was making. Having the brown/black cop as third wheel, so to speak, would not have the purpose of making a black suspect more agreeable. If it did work out that way, then great, but no – the point would be to provide the necessary political cover and ‘cred’ for the police, especially for the white police. From that PR-related point of view, it might work just fine.

The new version would be for a police car to roll up to a fight in progress and speaking over the loudspeaker on the car’s system (which would be recorded for future use), the officer would ask:

May I get out of this patrol car?
May I approach the individuals who are fighting?
May I request identification from them?
Right up to: “May I shoot this one here?”

Yeah, we laugh. But we’re moving in that direction.

This will not work… I have previously reported the reason why over the years by actually detailing te conversations and claims in various groups that dont bubble up to everyone. in this case, the point made was how the leaders of these movements have claimed that the system and laws were made by white men, and so are not valid for black men (and or women, lgbtq, abcdefg… )… so the idea that a black officer would change this is null and void given that he would be enforcing white mans laws…

they are saying the girl was murdered…
they are saying the cops should do something other than shoot (what i dont know)
they are saying kids have had knife fights for ages, so its ok to have teenage knife fights

Its time we give them what they want…
IF the people living there want police, then they should do something about the people who dont want them… there is nothing else to do but stop showing up… and restrict responses to those areas that want a response… (and no complaints how police only go to white areas, asian areas, spanish areas, etc).
