Jack - it was Mayor Lightfoot in Chicago.

And as to the points made by F:

The Babylon Bees have those covered, of course, both for real and for satire.
Snopes et al. can't tell the difference, and it's getting hard for me.
If I wasn't familiar with the writing style at both sites, I would not always know which one was the exaggeration.

https://notthebee.com/article/chicago-seriously-might-start-requiring-cops-to-get-permission-from-a-supervisor-before-chasing-a-suspect-on-foot

https://babylonbee.com/news/chicago-police-now-required-to-ask-for-consent-before-arresting-someone

This one addresses the comment by physicguy & how much we aren't being told by the media and the BLM hustlers.

Of course, you should read the Bees daily; they cover most of the hot topics and there are bonus features like this one. I think it's probably Joe Biden at work sometime in the past. ;)

hi, artfldgr. Re: your point @ 11:23: I think you misunderstand the point I was making. Having the brown/black cop as third wheel, so to speak, would not have the purpose of making a black suspect more agreeable. If it did work out that way, then great, but no - the point would be to provide the necessary political cover and 'cred' for the police, especially for the white police. From that PR-related point of view, it might work just fine.

One thing I don't think we've tried yet is a variation on the policy instituted on college campuses sometime in the past decade regarding dating. Remember that? Having to ask permission?

May I hold your hand?
May I kiss you?
May I remove your blouse? Etc., etc., etc.

The new version would be for a police car to roll up to a fight in progress and speaking over the loudspeaker on the car's system (which would be recorded for future use), the officer would ask:

May I get out of this patrol car?
May I approach the individuals who are fighting?
May I request identification from them?
Right up to: "May I shoot this one here?"

Yeah, we laugh. But we're moving in that direction.

TJ on April 22, 2021 at 1:49 am said: could there be activist sabotage at work? Pre Wokery?

feminists started on white males a long time ago - they were exposed on a channel of teachers and admins bragging as to the damage they were doing

last night there came out a discussion on a tape recording of a teacher and an administrator talking about how they are basically damaging the white boys.. (now is it any wonder that they grow up and do mass shooting?)

By what logic do you convict a man of murder and manslaughter for the same action?

None... the jury was sending a message without verbalizing it... we are afraid of the mob, and the state is not doing anything about this mob, and has no onus to protect us, so anyone put before us is guilty of everything. this will lead to a mistrial and be someone elses problem.

I wonder how this is going to play out in the rich, liberal, mainly white neighborhoods of Minneapolis. They could be easy pickings without police protection.

Philip Sells on April 21, 2021 at 10:47 pm said: As a corollary, I can even imagine scenarios in which, say, a white cop pulls over a motorist on a routine traffic stop, walks up to the car, finds that the driver is browner than he expected, and then has to pause and call for a brown backup, either because only brown cops will be allowed to arrest or otherwise deal with brown suspects, or because the presence on the scene of a brown fellow officer over the entire interaction will be either perceived as unofficially necessary for some political CYA for the white cop

This will not work... I have previously reported the reason why over the years by actually detailing te conversations and claims in various groups that dont bubble up to everyone. in this case, the point made was how the leaders of these movements have claimed that the system and laws were made by white men, and so are not valid for black men (and or women, lgbtq, abcdefg... )... so the idea that a black officer would change this is null and void given that he would be enforcing white mans laws...

The response today is basically that they should have not stopped the girl... they were mad the cops showed up... ok... fine... then the cops should stop showing up to black communities... let them kill each other... they do not want the police to respond, show up, do a thing... so maybe its time the cops should not show up??

they are saying the girl was murdered...
they are saying the cops should do something other than shoot (what i dont know)
they are saying kids have had knife fights for ages, so its ok to have teenage knife fights

Its time we give them what they want...
IF the people living there want police, then they should do something about the people who dont want them... there is nothing else to do but stop showing up... and restrict responses to those areas that want a response... (and no complaints how police only go to white areas, asian areas, spanish areas, etc).
