I’ve read several snippets on what these two guys did and it seemed as though journalists just can’t tell these stories coherently. Today I found a good one from The Telegraph where the lead officer told the story in his own words.

They were “commando” members of the BRI force, which functions above beat cops but below SWAT forces, if I understand correctly.

Originally, I was super impressed at the courage and skill of these two guys because I thought they had engaged the rifle toting terrorist with their pistols at a range of maybe 60 meters. Well, the correct range was 25 m. It is still an incredible story, partly because two of the terrorists detonated their suicide vests in response, and the other terrorists subsequently went into a fully defensive posture.
