At the end of the press conference, I noticed that Trump picked up his notes and put them in his pocket. Perhaps this was related to a reporter taking photos of one of the cabinet secretary’s notes during the Senate questioning.

Since Trump was nearer to the exit off the podium, he was the first to move, but when he was at the stairs, he stopped, turned and appeared to hold out his arm or hand to May. Likewise, outside the office, there appears to be a slight slope. At the top, Trump holds out his arm/hand, she takes it. At the bottom of the slope, she lets go.

My initial reaction was that Trump was showing good manners. Talking with a friend, she noticed the same actions and had the same response.

It was a nice gesture and I appreciate seeing it, even though most people will probably come up with a snide comment about them holding hands.

Trump had responded to Chris Matthews question; in which Matthews speculated that abortion had again been made illegal and if so, should a woman who then had an illegal abortion be punished?

Trump clumsily stated that under those conditions there would have to be a punishment for the woman.

What he could have responded with is to clarify the conditions by asking Matthews; you’re asking me if abortion was illegal because the country had decided that a fetus is a baby… should a lawbreaker face legal consequence? You said that IF abortion had been ruled illegal, right? Then Trump could have said that breaking the law must always carry consequence. Otherwise, why have laws?

Trump is not a facile, deep thinker but his instincts are good. Instinctual, non-nuanced statements are easily mischaracterized. The MSM specializes in them.
