Everyone, ultimately, has some reason for a claim of victim status.

There’s not enough room for everyone to play the victim. It is ultimately a losing game for all of us.

Haven’t ever seen where it really helps anyone other than benefit those who want to perpetuate that line of thinking / behavior.

It begins by not expecting responsible behavior of everyone, or, worse, excusing bad behavior, and attempting to hide rather than call out that behavior.

. . . because being a victim provides the greatest current cultural and political leverage.

The founders feared the tyranny of the majority, but failed to foresee a tyranny by the minority. We live in a culture where a single claim of victimization, no matter how valid or outlandish, creates severe repercussions for any alleged oppressor. The most outlandish claims are given the same weight as serious claims and we’ve devolved from “guilty as charged” to “guilty because charged.”

acceptance and/or wilful blindness to some of the contributing messages and behaviors.

Guys like tavis want to perpetuate a victimhood mentality rather than have anything like an “honest” conversation.
