Since Reagan the border issue has been a political tool to gain votes.
Just putting this out there; since the late 50's people of another nationality born here were given the right to vote here. This privilege has been expanded to be the most liberal in the world, with some countries not giving reciprocal rights.
The link below show that Mexico and some other nations use this to the maximum advantage. The anchor-baby phenomena has given us untold numbers voting the interest of their home nation

Uncontrolled, unrestrictive immigration is the ongoing death of this country, for many reasons. Most of those reasons are known to thinking conservatives (or normal observing human beings) that visit this site, so I won't rehash them.

I will just note that during the first 0bama administration, the father and husband of a family that were close friends of my daughter for years growing up (three beautiful girls and their lovely mother) was killed by an illegal drunken driver that crossed the border and was 'returned' several times. The father, an Army vet, was returning from his white collar job around 5:30 pm, and was killed on his commute home.

Fast forward to today, and the mother drives a school bus to attempt to cover family expenses. Live enough, know enough people, and you hear and see stories like this everywhere.

The Dems - pushing massive immigration to finish their lock on a permanent electorat - and the bought-and-purchased GOPe delenda est.

Cornhead has been generous with his time as he has steadfastly attended and reported on many campaign rallies. His efforts are much appreciated.

However, I have to laugh when it comes to reporting Trump's words and promises because it is a futile undertaking. If djt told me the sky is blue I would have to get off my butt, run outside, and look up. If he promised that water is wet I would have to stand in the rain.

Yes, politicians and con artists lie. NYC liberal or NYC liberal, its all lies.

Thanks to Cornhead for his on scene reporting.

The stories of the families devastated by illegal immigrant criminals are heartbreaking. Too few people know about those.

Get control of the border. I don't believe Trump needs much help from Congress to do that. The border fence has already been passed into law. 613 miles has been constructed. It needs another 353 miles to be an effective barrier. The funding may be hard to come by, but he can beef up the Border Patrol and enforce the existing laws. That's a start to border security and could make a difference. I know there are enough votes to cut off funding to sanctuary cities in the House. If citizens can put enough pressure on their Senators, the votes could be found in the Senate as well. Trump is going to have to appeal to the citizens to communicate to their representatives to help him execute his agenda.

Trump can undo a lot of regulations just by putting new people in charge at EPA, Agriculture, Interior, Education, Energy, and HHS. So many of these agencies have become regulating bodies without laws other than some with general directions - not specifics. Most of them have gone rogue against American businesses under Obama.

There are some good ideas out there about financing the building/repair of the country's infrastructure. The estimate for the work to be done is $3 trillion. The time frame for completing much of it is 15-20 years. That's $150 - $200 billion per year. Build America Bonds (30-40 year federal tax free bonds), state/federal partnerships where both entities put up some of the money, as well as federal/state/private partnerships with all three entities sharing in the financing. Infrastructure projects could pump a lot of cash into the economy that would get jobs and growth moving again. It can be done. What's required is someone with the vision and desire to do it. Maybe Trump is that guy.

Cynical:

<i>"I note that he has the capacity to do them as the GOP will control Congress. ... You know his items: build a wall, end sanctuary cities, lower taxes, better trade deals, repeal Obamacare, repeal Common Core, school choice, cut regulations, kill the Green agenda, promote American energy, build infrastructure and appoint conservatives to the Supreme Court."</i>

Call me doubtful... that the GOpe will back him on those items. Lip service? Absolutely! They'll give enough that the lack of cooperation won't be blatant. But really cut regulations? Appoint more Scalias? Repeal Common Core? Kill the green agenda? And going after the sanctuary cities would mean actually opposing massive immigration, which they support. So some backing but as little as they can get away with... OK, call me cynical.
