Simply cannot put into words the impact this story had on me. I have daughters. And it is challenging to find things to connect with them on. This story is one of a few vehicles which allowed us to share a special moment together.
So much negative in the world. But when one finds a pearl of positive within all of that, the level of refreshment it delivers is overwhelming.

Another to add to the fortitude pile

First woman ever to win a medal at six straight Olympic games... Kim Rhode

Three Gold
One Silver
Two Bronze

A brutally difficult pregnancy. A debilitating recovery, one that’s still ongoing. Emergency gall bladder surgery. A five-day hospital stay for mosquito-borne illness. Her husband’s own health issues. Her father’s broken leg. The deaths of six friends.

Bitterness was readily available. All Rhode had to do was let it in.

Perspective prevented that door from swinging open. …

“You just have to be thankful for what you have and know that there are people out there that have it worse, that are going through tougher times and just look at the positives in it,” said Rhode … “I feel very, very thankful of where I’m at.”

now ask the question why you haven't heard of the First woman ever to win a medal at six straight Olympic games

We live deeply in a grievance and victimization culture.

Yet, here is Jennifer Bricker overcoming her own great obstacle in pursuit of her own goals.

Saw this when it first came out on 20/20 - it is more than inspirational.

BLM (from your article below) would do well to highlight inspriational rather than retaliation for perceived victimization.

Likewise, conservatives need to bring their message to a level of inspiration rather than grievance and conspiracy.

Like Jennifer's parents, we can choose to either focus on the limitations and unfairness, or we can work with what we do have and inspire.
