Just as I said before, Trump is always close to his poll numbers. When I saw the last poll the day before the primary, I’d hoped it was a mistake, but it wasn’t.

Most of the caucus business was voting for precinct officers — chair, vice chair, secretary, and treasurer — and representatives for county and state conventions. At the end there was a secret ballot for president. The presidential votes get counted at the county level, so I don’t expect results until much later tonight. There was no presidential politicking, but several of the candidates for the other spots were asked their preference. I counted 7 for Cruz and 1 for Kasich and I expect Carson would have taken several if he were still running. In any case, the tone was “Cruz of course, do you think I’m crazy?” I’d say there was a strong, if unexpressed, anti Trump undercurrent. It will be interesting to see what the final count is.
