I worked at the Village Theater in Westwood (think UCLA) when “Love Story” premiered on Christmas Day. Had to suffer through probably 1,000 performances. Love means you ALWAYS have to say you’re sorry.

Molly NH: If you watch this video, she sure doesn't look as you describe at all. She looks absolutely great. He doesn't look so bad either, but at 76 she's wonderful. She also is funny and straightforward. About the "love is never having to say you're sorry" bit, she remarks, "It's a crock."
