You’re describing the Silent Generation.

Even now, the critical positions in Congress are dominated by Silent Generation pols.

It’s a TOTAL mistake to think that the Boomers have been calling the shots.

They were the ones who started teaching “self-esteem” in schools to the millennials.

They love themselves as a way of life, they are the center of the universe. So no, they don’t feel any shame over Obama…they barely understand the concept of shame; and then, only theoretically, as something rubes in flyover country feel. Like that whole “God” thing.

Right-thinking people seem to have a fixation on the criminal showing remorse. Maybe it’s the legacy of Judeo-Christian values, and the idea of forgiveness.

Liberal narcissists at the NYT and elsewhere are beyond the pale. There will be no redemption for them here, so we need to resign ourselves to that.

Quit looking for remorse, and instead focus on removing all influence and power from them. They’ve earned it.

The Democrat corruption started a few years before 1860, culturally speaking. So the timeline fits.

It’s worth every cent: the list of crimes and outrageous abuses of power committed against domestic political opponents by FDR, e.g., is staggering. Ditto JFK and Johnson.

Lasky also makes it clear that the federal agencies and bureaucracies were ALL operating as extensions of the Party of Government (surprise, surprise, surprise!); therefore, they do not, nor have they for the last 90 years, cooperate or work at the behest of any of the Republican presidents.

Here’s a quote about Watergate:

“The last third of the book deals with Watergate itself. Here, Lasky’s thesis is given best by another quote he finds from an anonymous Congressman:

We’re going to impeach his [Nixon’s] ass. We’re going to do it. . . . We’re going to do it, although nobody will quite know why. . . . Beyond all questions of guilt or innocence, he must be impeached because we, the Super-Bowl people, have been promised the show. We’re gearing up for it emotionally the way did when the ballyhoo built up for the Billie Jean King-Bobby Riggs match.

And so they did. Despite the fact that, “as it turned out, the one person who had absolutely no advance knowledge of the Watergate break-in was Richard M. Nixon.”

Much of the common historical knowledge of Watergate is also incorrect. For example, the story was not uncovered by great investigative journalism, but was largely uncovered because of leaky federal bureaucracies — basically in open war with Nixon (also furthering the argument for our thesis on The New Deal).

But then, the whole thing wasn’t about Nixon’s crimes — if they really cared about those, they’d have to indict every President since FDR — it was about power. A new group finally had an unbreakable grip on it and they were having fun demonstrating just how unbreakable their grip was.”

These presidents had the FBI investigate their enemies, had wiretaps on competitors, covered up serious crimes, took kickbacks, and used the IRS as a weapon against basically anyone they didn’t like.
After the first two-thirds of the book you basically assume that they are capable of anything short of murder or rape.

Lasky also makes it clear that many of the reporters who went after Nixon knew of, or were directly involved in perpetrating, these activities on behalf of these earlier presidents.

For example, Bill Moyers:

. . . As special assistant to the President [LBJ], he [Moyers] ordered the FBI to run a name-check on numerous members of Goldwater’s campaign and Senate staffs in an effort to obtain derogatory information about their possible sexual aberrations.

What the President was looking for, Moyers told the FBI, was information about “fags” and other perverts on the Arizonan’s staff.

So, according to Moyers, it was bad when Nixon did this stuff but it was fine when he did it.”

On 18 August 1941, in a brutal police operation, over 300 Swingjugend were arrested. The measures against them ranged from cutting their hair and sending them back to school under close monitoring, to the deportation of the leaders to concentration camps.

resistance was actually quite large and ranged from non compliance to actual attempts on Hitlers life, to passive aggressive sabotage – like being harried by invisible demons.

the problem was that sometimes the punishments were quite severe in American terms. like executing every member of a whole city leaving no one alive.

you probably would not remember Lidice or learn about it..

On June 10, 1942, the German government announced that it had destroyed the small village of Lidice, Czechoslovakia, killing every adult male and some fifty-two women. All surviving women and children were then deported to concentration camps, or if found suitable to be “Germanized”, sent to the greater Reich. The Nazi’s then proudly proclaimed that the village of Lidice, it’s residents, and its very name, were now forever blotted from memory.

The Germans raided 5,000 towns and villages arresting some 3,180 people, 1,344 were sentenced to be executed. This number however was far to small for Adolf Hitler who ordered severe reprisals threatening to kill 30,000 Czechs.

responses were quite disproportionate, and if you cared about your fellow man you would not want to be the person that did something and then found out they erased some town for it. in the movies they back down, in real life they dont.
