What people are realizing is what I call “emotional enlightenment”. Things seem more dire and more conclusive because your emotions are finally catching up to your logickal processes. That allows more to be seen and understood than merely intellectual logick could ever contain.

It’s one thing to tolerate some discomfort, if one’s survival is not on the line. But when one’s survival is on the line, certain emotions and instincts are triggered. A mother may decide that lifting a car to free her trapped child is “logickal” and feasible, where if the mother had a dog or purse trapped underneath the car… she wouldn’t necessarily think it logickal to break her spine lifting up the car. And what people don’t get, and I get this from my job and working with lots of people, is that companies (governments too) see by their reports. They cant see a child and a childs performance, there are too many of them in their basket, so they see numbers in reports, and so there are a series of points which are weak in which one can change or inject information that changes outcomes into that series
The census is how the state SEES the public and can see what the results of its policies are.
