“When “boys” have reached the ages of 19 and 26 they’re not children."

I agree with you on the 26 year old, but in my experience most 19 year old boys (Americans, that is) are still just that. They are certainly old enough to know right from wrong, but they are still quite impressionable and impulsive and their judgment can be very, very poor. That's why 18 (and 19) year old males have historically made such excellent cannon fodder...

Viktor Frankl wrote from his Concentration Camp experience that there were two races of people - the decent and the indecent.

I think now there are two kinds of people that matter to America - those who love America (who are Patriotic in the conventional sense), and those who do not.

Those who fit into the category of people who love America are this uncle and all kinds of immigrants from all over the world and from any religion or none, and so on.

Those who fit the category of not loving America are these bombers, and our President, and Pelosi, and all National Dem Pols and the entire committed Liberal Intelligentsia and their fellow travelers.

You do not, in the case of our President, desire to "fundamentally transform" something that you love. Q.E.D. on that score. The kids are a big problem. The Liberals are a bigger one. By far. By miles and miles and miles. They truly hate America and don't ever let them con you otherwise.

Unless you can prove there was a neural implant which took away every vestige of will, he's guilty as hell.
Once they got the backpacks out of the car and started walking down the street, he could have talked to a cop. Didn't. Kept on to mass murder.
Paradoxically, somebody claiming to know this stuff said more people would have died had they not been so closely packed. IOW, somebody picks up three times as much stuff as necessary to mutilate him, thus keeping some of it from hitting somebody else. Randomly, one or two of those pieces might have been lethal to somebody else, rising slightly and hitting heart and brain.

Painting the younger brother as being a good kid who was forced into a crime by his over- powering older brother has nothing to do with his guilt. The video evidence of guilt is pretty solid. Also, the bombing, shooting spree as they attempted to flee is pretty strong evidence of guilt.

We're supposed to assume innocence until guilt is proven in a court of law. In this case it's hard to do because of the quality of the evidence.

Evidence in extenuation and mitigation (making the perp appear more or less evil) should come after the verdict of guilt or innocence. At least that is the way the UMCJ works and I'm assuming the Federal legal system works much the same way. It seems that the media wants to emphasize matters of extenuation and mitigation over and above the evidence of guilt or innocence. IMO trying these cases in the court of public opinion, as the media is wont to do, tends to warp the legal system.

Southpaw, the car was pointed away from the police and Tamerlan. Joker got in, turned it around, and drove straight at the police and his brother. If he were really trying to escape, he could have gone in the other direction, it was unblocked and not a dead end street. You can see for yourself in the photos that were taken of the gunfight.

These guys were really cold blooded killers.

I imagine those who are portraying the younger brother as a victim of the elder brother's bad influence are just engaging in wishful thinking. They're struggling to reconcile the younger man's actions with his innocent appearance and with the various first-hand testimonials of his former classmates and friends that he was a normal, well-liked kid. (I suspect it's mainly his looks that are creating the cognitive dissonance: If Dzhohkar looked liked Mohamed Atta, there probably wouldn't be a lot of hand-wringing over how his older brother had led him off the straight and narrow.)

If people want to speculate as to how such a "normal" kid turned into a terrorist monster, they're welcome to have at it. But it doesn't change anything. He's still responsible for his actions and it in no way mitigates his misdeeds to argue that he was, at one time, just a normal, American kid.

They both wanted a Cody Jarrett ending.

Certainly the brothers made a cross-oath that neither would be taken alive.

The survivor tried to blow his own brains out, probably had such poor hand control that he did not succeed.

For a fanatic, to die WHILE on jihad is the goal.

While on the gallows is not the goal.
