She wants civil war then she'll get it, this will cause a blood bath and then we' ll see how she will like that! This woman is out of her tree if she thinks we will go unarmed in a country of criminals, gang members and people who if they knew you were unarmed would diffenitly take your life and advantage of you. He'll these idiots in office can't stop the drug smuggling and she thinks they won't smuggle in guns. Great idea Miss idiot just look at history the blood bath created by proabition, oh that worked didn't it. Gangsters got rich and lives were lost. Now instead of alcohol it will be GUNS SMUGGLING! Feinstein you will be responsible for it you idiot senator! Make the criminals richer and the country defenseless. Because cops cannot protect us I know, I was one for 30 years and by the time they arrive its over and the criminals are long gone. People are robbed, dead or dying and women raped and why. Because criminals will have no fear, they will have guns! Why because they don't care about the law woman ! They don't give a rats ass about your stupid ass laws and rules. DO THEY! What you need to do is keep your damn nose out of free people's business. And shut your pie hole and collect your fat salary for doing nothing constructive. If you really want to do something you should get a bill passed to arm every law bidding honest American citizen and let them carry concealed weapons providing they take proper classes and qualify every six mos. this would do many things. First and foremost it would stop shootings like that in conneticut, it would creat jobs, ranges and gun sales, gun production, people issuing licenses, concealed carry permits, leather goods, holsters, ammo pouches, belts. Ammo sales. And less crime period.
Mrs Finstien get on board with America, don't try to be communist, just look at the U.K. NOW THEY WANT THEIR GUNS BACK AND THEY ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES AUSTRAILIA ALSO, CRIMINALS RUN A MUCK THERE, crime is higher than ever and Bobbies now where body armor and carry guns, why because criminals have guns and they kill people who are honest and law bidding!

I've been informed that, contrary to my earlier comment, a .308 upper cannot be used on a standard AR-15 lower, as it requires a larger magazine well.

It's embarrassing when I spout off on a topic that I have limited knowledge of and then be proven wrong. But that's also one of the strengths of the internet.

Thanks for all your gun suggestions. I can see from this thread and from Ace of Spades that guns are a HUGE subject. I also used to enjoy watching Top Shot. I would probably love to get into the subject more fully.

If my husband weren't such a liberal and an anti-gun freak, this would be a great subject for the two of us to enjoy together. I envy those couples who can go out shooting together.

If I ever actually buy an AR-15 or whatever, it will be a signal that law and order in Chicago have totally broken down. If I can make it alive to the suburbs, then I'll begin my new life as a shooter.

Right now, I'm just shooting off my mouth, waiting for the economy to collapse. If it doesn't, then we're all lucky.

Heh. In my earlier comment about AR-15s, I mentioned uppers and lowers. Russ from Winterset at Ace of Spades goes into much greater detail here: Quick Suggestions on Buying an AR

It's true; some people build their own out of parts, just as audiophiles assemble high-end sound systems.

A "stripped lower" is just a rectangular metal box with holes in it, but the ATF treats it like a whole gun.

Which group discussed the logistics of murdering 25 million Americans, who refused to be re-educated?

Future historians will treat point as a juncture, for good or ill. This is the critical time.

I agree. I've been thinking for a while that this is an historical moment.

On the one hand, we have the radical left completely triumphant in every sphere of society, and through education, the media, and immigration, are poised to permanently cement their unchallenged rule in place.

Opposing them is the spineless and ball-less Republican Party, whose leaders couldn't elucidate a principle if their lives depended on it.

Interesting times, all right.

This recent spate of assaults on the Second Amendment is only logical. The election of a Marxist to a second term of presidency has shown the fading away of American exceptionalism. Mark Steyn no longer believes Americans are exceptional. I still do, but I think American exceptionalism now hangs by the thread of the Second Amendment.

This is the final test. Should the Marxist regime succeed in disarming the law-abiding populace, it will spell the end of the Great American Experiment and the putting out of the world's brightest beacon of freedom and model of liberty. Future historians will treat point as a juncture, for good or ill. This is the critical time.

If you read a list of the major provisions that will supposedly be a part of Feinstein’s bill, you will see that it really aims at the ultimate disarming of the citizenry.

A case in point, the provision that, in addition to paying a $200 “registration fee” (read fine), registering your weapon and any high capacity magazines and being fingerprinted, the bill would allow only the original owner to have possession of the weapons. Moreover, now that the state knows that you have this or that “registered weapons” it is in a position to enforce the provision of Feinstein’s legislation that mandates that such weapons could not pass down by inheritance, but would have to be turned in to the State upon their owner’s death.

My guess is that this legislation is so draconian to, first, please Feinstein’s far left anti-gun base and, second, as a bargaining ploy.

They start out with an extremely harsh, likely un-passable bill as a beginning point, and then give up or soften various parts of it in “negotiations” with opponents. By this means arriving at a softened “compromise” bill that would have never been passed had it been offered originally, but whose provisions–some or all of them–could now be sold as a “compromise,” and would now have a much better chance of passing vs. the original outlandishly harsh original legislation.

The solution to this ploy, of course, Is for opponents to refuse to consider any legislation restricting gun purchase, ownership, or licensed carry in any shape or form, regardless of all the names they would be called, and the TV comedians or newspaper editorials excoriating them.
