The backer of SOPA are both Democrats and Republicans. But it was a Republican that introduced the bill. He probably thinks it’s a good idea. On the other hand, the Democrats know that it will help them destroy the Republican party one way or another. So there’s a distcontinuity in strategy here and goals. The Republicans have no idea what they are facing. Thus even if they gain a majority, it’s not going to be hard for the Dems to use Republicans as a proxy for eroding the Constitution.

Geoffrey’s line was something plausible and balanced, back in 2008. This is 2012 people. There is little tolerance for Geoffrey’s way of looking at things. Plan for the worst, and hope for the best. Hoping for the best is not enough.
