I live on a small island where one can only really leave by car. We have almost no crime — but when someone does do anything unpleasant and try to run, they’re nearly always caught in the ferry line. This is often amusing, and we locals always get an old lesson reinforced: don’t assume crooks are very smart.

When politicians get caught in this kind of idiocy I can’t resist seeing the parallel.

I suspect he resigned because there are more embarrassing pics out there. Maybe, like Brett Favre, he thought it would be a good idea to send pics of his weiner to women.

If this guy was this dumb, and so clueless about how likely he was to be spotted advertising his wares on Craigslist in our glorious Internet age, it is better that he resigns and hopefully–I say hopefully because this is New York State politics after all–he gets replaced by someone who has an I.Q. higher than the number of heads this guy was thinking with.

OK, so, men have two heads, but only enough blood to operate one at a time. Not news.

Across the blogs, I have enjoyed the jokes Republicans and Conservatives have made about this incautious narcissist. Sure, a Democrat would have gotten away with krep like this, while Republicans use him as comic relief. This is not injustice. This is a very healthy reality.

A flaw it do doubt is, but fatal? JFK didn’t die from his trysts (although there are apocryphal tales that Marilyn Monroe and her Mafia connections had something to do with it), and Clinton is still very much the Big He.

But otherwise and meanwhile, where do they dig these guys up, anyway?

All I have to say is the damn Republicans better keep it in their pants for the next two years. I don’t really care after that, go back to being human, but right now, we don’t need any more fodder for Media Matters.
