I see the formula of David P. Goldman the most incisive: “Arab-Israeli conflict is hopeless, but not serious”. The best USA can do to stop intervene and let the parties manage it themselves.

I think we had a preview of how Obama would handle a real foreign crisis, one that requires immediate action, thanks to the oil spill. Gov. Jindal relates that when he welcomed Obama when he came down to see the damage in Louisiana Obama immediately reprimanded him (Jindal) for something completely unrelated because it made him, Obama, look bad.

My guess is that he would handle a crisis by making a speech, maybe a threatening one, and fellow it up by another threatening speech, then ignore the crisis completely once it was off the front pages. This would be followed by self-congratulatory statements about he controlled and mitigated the crisis so it did not get out of hand; ergo more proof of his sublime wisdom, while insisting that those who are doing something about the crisis stop doing anything.

Somebody’s been hitting the double expressos pretty hard.
Obama’s belief he could solve something so complex with so little effort isn’t out of character.
Besides, his forte isn’t brokering compromises. In spite of a deeply seated personal belief to the contrary, he has a real knack for not knowing the difference between personal opinions and reality.

BTW, according to the Jerusalem Post the Stuxnet virus closed down Iran’s nuke program, sweet. Israel is now defending the US. Hardly surprising at this point.

Awesome leader Obama is, figuring out democratic Israel does not want peace, while the surrounding dictatorships do.
