The great tragedy of his life was that he was murdered when he started to mature and become conciliatory. He was killed to deliberately freeze him in time. The Malcolm X that African Americans celebrate is not the man he was becoming, but the man he was rejecting. That African Americans are tolerant or even admiring of the chief architect of his murder — Louis Farrakhan — while celebrating the false Malcolm X is an indictment of the African American community as an aggregate. Maybe someday they will feel the sting of shame and deign to join the greater American community.

I do wish Artfldgr well and appreciate his view, I simply disagree with some of his conclusions and object to the issues mentioned above.

Look at me all you want and being human, of course I ‘lack’ certain qualities, as do you. I’m not the one however, whose nose gets out of joint when criticized. In my experience, you always do and clearly illustrate someone who can dish it out but can’t take it.

As for showing my ‘chops’… just making a comment isn’t a reliable indicator of a desire to show off but your assuming it does, says much about you.

My only problem with you Artfldgr is your frequent and condescending air when putting down others views, categorizing them as unsophisticated ignorance which, whether they are or not is uncalled for and counter-productive. There’s no need to be insulting to people who are often sympathetic to your views… is there?

We all have our lessons to learn, which includes you. Do you have any idea what they might be? Or is a man with “no issues” above all that?

He lost me as a reader a long time ago. It’s just very easy to scroll over his too long, disorganized, unedited rambles. And, I’m not missing a time by doing so.

(Normally we don’t raise that issue; you’ve explained before that this is very difficult for you. But your calls to arms ring very hollow indeed, when it’s clear that we are doing proofreading work that you’re not.)

There’s no question in my mind that you have a powerful (and important) message to deliver. But that message will fall on deaf ears if it is rambling, unproofread, and insulting to boot. (Neoneocon has occasionally done you the favor of condensing your messages, and has probably gotten you more readers thereby. But she shouldn’t have to do this for you.)

You can insist on writing the way you like to write, and bemoan the fact the hardly anybody listens to you. Or you can take the trouble to organize your thoughts and your words, express them simply (and uncondescendingly)… and then have people spend more time discussing your ideas, rather than the way you chose to express them. It’s your call.

I’ve noticed in radio interviews and such of Obama from a few years ago that his speech pattern sounded quite diferently. Theres definitely an evolution into a more wavering cadence that smacks of a black evangelical.

When you can’t raise successful children without setting an example of morality, integrity, dedication.
When you can’t clean up your community without supporting the drug dealers, prostitutes, etc by not buying their wares.
