Israel is too much trouble–you can’t reason the Arabs with or expect the Arabs to stop their aggression–so we’re going to pitch Israel overboard.
Figure that will fix things.
We rationalize it by allowing or requiring ourselves to believe Israel is the bad guy and so pitching them off the sled is just fine and dandy.
Nobody is so ignorant as to not know the facts.
But the facts are unimportant in the face of fear.

I notice also that the nattering nabobs in the MSM have largely remained silent on this cartoon matter. Let someone change the Star of David in the cartoon to a Crescent and Star and re-label the “Gaza” figure as “Christians” and there will be no “misunderstanding” of the views of those who howl in protest and anger.
