Libya will withdraw $7 billion of assets held in Swiss banks and end economic cooperation with Switzerland to protest against poor treatment of Libyan diplomats and businessmen, Libyan state news agency JANA said.

The OPEC-member country will also cut oil supplies to Switzerland, JANA cited an unnamed foreign ministry source as saying in a statement on Friday.

“Due to the poor treatment a number of Libyan diplomats ( Qaddafi Son emphsis added) and businessmen received from the police in the canton of Geneva, the Great Jamahiriyah (Libya) has decided to stop pumping crude oil for Switzerland and withdraw Libyan assets deposited in Swiss banks which are worth $7 billion,” the statement said.

“It has also decided to suspend all forms of economic cooperation with Switzerland until the reasons and the motives behind such practices are known,” it added.

Yet Iran has a surprising weakness: Its oil and gas industry, the lifeblood of its economy, is showing serious signs of distress. As domestic energy consumption skyrockets, Iran is struggling to produce enough oil and gas for export. Unless Tehran overhauls its policies, its primary source of revenue and the basis of its geopolitical muscle could start to wane. Within a decade, says Saad Rahim, an analyst at Washington consultancy PFC Energy, “Iran’s net crude exports could fall to zero.”

The country’s 137 billion barrels of oil reserves are second only to Saudi Arabia’s, and its supply of gas trails only Russia’s, according to the BP Statistical Review of World Energy. Getting it all out of the ground, though, is another matter. Iran has been producing just 3.9 million barrels of oil a day this year, 5% below its OPEC quota, because of delays in new projects and a shortage of technical skills. By contrast, in 1974, five years before the Islamic Revolution, Iran pumped 6.1 million barrels daily.

As old fields peak out, and new rigs are expensive, the output plummets. I read an article of Anatoly Chubais, head of Russian energy monopoly, that in case of cold winter several megapolises would need emergency evacuation because natural gas supply is not adequate for heating thousands of apartments blocks.

A 12-year-old cancer-stricken Iranian boy arrived at an Israeli hospital on Friday for emergency treatment on his brain tumor.

The boy – who was identified only as Roy, to protect his privacy – was wheeled on a stretcher into the Sheba Medical Center near Tel Aviv, after treatments in Iran and Turkey failed. His face was puffy, apparently due to the drugs administered to ease his pain.

if you look back on that issue you will find that hansen (not victor david hansion, nasa’s hansen), has no meterological degrees, and when i was a kid he was peddling a global ice age. when his models kept predicting ice and it kept getting warmer, he swtched to global warming, and the rest you are aware of for the most part.

right now the sun is in cycle 24, or rather its still hanging in between cycles starting to break records in how long its face has remained spotless.

the sun controls the earths temperature by overhwelming degrees, and the greenhouse effect is minimal… however accepting the argument leads to the same totalitarianism that healthcare eventually does.

we are on many raods ot the same place and are not willing to make the fundemental and moral hard choices that are right, but not pc to not keep walking till someone else makes the choices for us and there are no more to make.
