You contradict yourself from one posting to the next. On the one hand you state that after “13 years of inhumane sanctions and the massive bombing of Iraq Iraq’s infrastructure almost on its last leg.” The reference to massive bombing had to be to Gulf War 1, as there was much more use of bombing in Gulf War1 than in Gulf War 2. On the other hand you state that after Gulf War 1, Iraq had both restored power and communications within 6 months.

I would agree with you that the Iraqi people were caught in a vise between Saddam and sanctions. One person may claim that the sanctions were too harsh. Another may claim that the problem was that Saddam circumvented sanctions to spend on his palaces and pet projects instead of on the people of Iraq. This suggests that sanctions were untenable in the long run. In the long run, either Saddam or sanctions had to go.
